Schwalbe's classic gravity tire, the Magic Mary, now features a "radial construction."

Standard tires have a bias construction where the carcass (frame) fibers intersect at a 45-degree angle. However, Schwalbe's radial construction greatly widens this angle, arranging the fibers almost vertically. This is the same concept used in car tires.

With the same air pressure, the contact patch is approximately 30% larger, and the carcass more easily conforms to uneven terrain. This results in a significant improvement in grip, damping, and control.

The tread pattern remains the same as the conventional Magic Mary. The central knobs ensure good rolling, while the large shoulder knobs provide grip in corners. Even in muddy conditions, they bite into the mud and don't let go, which is why Schwalbe athletes trust them.

The Radial has a slightly unique ride feel. It's soft and has a sensation of sticking to the ground. You might find it feels a bit unreliable at your usual tire pressure, so try starting with a slightly higher pressure and experimenting to find your preference.
