Bob Scales is a somewhat unconventional figure, having worked at CHRIS KING, and before that, GIRO, surf brands, and various apparel manufacturers. A new collection has been realized through a collaboration between him and his long-time friend, artist RUSS POPE, who has a background in skate culture, and RAL.

Russ and Bob have been friends for several years, and Bob had asked Russ to serve as "artist-in-residence" for several projects he was working on at POBS. Coincidentally, seeds had also been sown between SimWorks/Circles and Russ. We had previously discussed the possibility of working with Russ in the future, so the conversation naturally came together, and this collaboration to feature RUSS POPE's art on RAL and POBS collaborative items was realized.

Russ, who was deeply immersed in skate culture during his time in California, and is now based near Boston as an artist, knows both the West and East Coasts of the United States intimately.
