In 2010, Peak Design successfully raised funds on Kickstarter in the US, quickly making its name known throughout the global photography industry.
The Capture, which emerged as its first product, was a revolutionary solution to the frustrations of outdoor photography experienced by founder Peter Dering. "When I wanted to take a picture while skiing, I had to stop, plant my poles in the ground, unfasten my backpack straps, take it off, and get my camera out. Then reverse the process after taking the shot... I couldn't do that every time. The moment I wanted to capture would pass in an instant." From that experience, he conceived, designed, and produced a product that offered immediate, easy access to a camera while ensuring its secure portability.
Having received funding from many people around the world who shared the same frustrations, the product was successfully commercialized. Today, the Capture has undergone several upgrades and is beloved by outdoor photographers and people worldwide.
