They are then heat-treated and chrome-plated for a clean appearance and wear resistance.
By using Surly's stainless steel chainrings with these cassette cogs, you can achieve a longer-lasting drivetrain.
They are designed to fit Shimano freehubs because their spline pattern is the most common and widely shared.
For you, this cog will be the most suitable way to convert your current wheel to single-speed.
The tooth shape and height are optimized for single-speed drivetrains.
The contact area with the freehub is wider than other single-speed cogs, preventing it from digging into or wobbling on the hub body.
This is especially important if your freehub body is made of aluminum.
The cog width is also designed to be compatible with 9-speed drivetrains, so you can combine several cogs to create a geared setup (be sure to align the cog faces on the hub body).
Above all, since it is designed as a single-speed cog, its shifting performance will be slightly inferior to conventional ones.
