Size Guide
The Shotgun Seat is a child seat attachment for mountain bikes, designed for children aged 2-5 years.
Check the size guide below to see if your child is ready to ride up front with you.
[Is my child old enough to use the Shotgun seat?]
・The Shotgun seat is designed for children aged 2 and over, but every child is different.
・We have 18-month-olds who enjoy riding up front, but as a general guide, if your child shows the following signs, they are likely ready for the Shotgun seat:
・Can sit unaided
・Can follow basic instructions
・Can stay awake (while riding)
[When will my child outgrow the Shotgun seat?]
・The maximum weight limit for the Shotgun Seat is 22kg.
・Most children can safely ride in the Shotgun Seat until they are 5-6 years old, or until they become interested in riding their own bike.
[Can I adjust the height of the footpegs or extend the legs of the Shotgun Seat?]
・While the height of the footpegs themselves cannot be adjusted, the legs of the Shotgun Seat can be moved forwards and backwards to accommodate the rider.
[I have an XS frame, can I use the Shotgun Seat?]
・Many parents use the Shotgun Seat with XS frames.
However, more important than the bike size is the difference in height between you and your child.
For example, if your child is tall for their age and you are quite short, it might be difficult to maintain visibility over your child's helmet while riding.
While we have never had a Shotgun seat returned for this reason, every child, adult, and bike is unique.
If you are concerned, we recommend trying out the Shotgun seat at your local dealer.
[My child is tall, so can't they use the Shotgun seat?]
There is no height limit for the Shotgun seat, but if your child is 4-5 years old and tall for their age, and you are short, it might be difficult to maintain visibility over your child's helmet while riding.
