What's in a mountain biker's bag? Summer trail ride edition.

I recently went on a trail ride, so I'd like to share what I brought with me.

That day was a hot one, over 30°C, though it was a bit cloudy. The ride, including travel, was about 14km and took a total of 2 hours.

Most of the items I bring are the same regardless of the season, but there are a few that are specific to summer.

Please use this as a reference for your own rides.

mysteryranch CULEE 25

Although not specifically for mountain biking, this is a very user-friendly backpack that I really like.
It has a zipper that extends to the very bottom, allowing easy access to items stored there, and four large pockets for convenient storage and retrieval. The back plate allows you to adjust the fit to your body, so it stays secure even during intense rides.

② SMITH Goggles

The large lenses provide a wide field of vision.
While sunglasses are an option, goggles offer better eye protection.
Clear or light pink lenses are recommended.

Platypus Big Zip EVO 2.0L

Securing hydration is crucial for trail riding. Especially in summer, water consumption is high, so it's a good idea to be well-prepared with a hydration pack.
It's not just for drinking water; it can also be used to cool down a hot body or clean wounds in case of injury.
Platypus hydration packs have a wide opening and a handle, making them very easy to fill, empty, and clean.

TOPEAK Mountain TT G & Helper Tube

This hand pump can even seat tubeless tire beads. The pump itself is large, but for the low pressure and high volume of mountain bike tires, this size is more practical.
Connecting an extension helper tube makes it even easier to use.

⑤ Rawlow Mountain Works Hiker Seat

A small, foldable cushion. It's very useful as you can sit directly on the ground without worrying about its condition.

Knog Bilby 400 Headlamp

A headlamp with a maximum of 400 lumens. This allows you to descend even if you accidentally get caught out after dark.

Troy Lee Designs A3 Helmet

A half-shell helmet that allows for good visibility of your face is ideal for trail riding.

Gloves & Knee Guards

It's no fun to get injured, so make sure to protect your body properly.

Klean Kanteen filled only with ice & Coke

Coke tastes exceptionally good when drunk on a mountaintop on a hot day.
I want my Coke to be ice-cold, so I bring ice. If you put it in a Klean Kanteen, it won't melt at all.

⑩ Lunch Sandwich

It's nice to have lunch on the mountain sometimes. Find your favorite sandwich.

In addition to these, there are also items attached to my bike.

GRANITE DESIGN STASH Multitool

I stash it in the fork steerer tube. I really like it because I can quickly take it out and use it without having to take off my bag.

Occam Design APEX Strap

A strap with a BOA dial that lets you wrap anything around your frame.
I wrap my tube, tire levers, and tubeless repair kit & chain tool.
