Cycled to Etajima's Mitsutaka-yama Battery Ruins in search of a photogenic spot!
I'm Murakami, a staff member who felt out of shape after a 200km ride at the end of the year.
So, I went for a bike ride to "Takayama Battery Remains," one of Etajima's tourist attractions.
I started by taking a ferry from Ujina Port to Kirekushi!
It's about 30km from Kirekushi to the battery remains. You can get there in 1 to 2 hours.
There was a cyclist's rest stop along the way, and the ocean view right in front was amazing.
The battery remains are located at the summit of Mt. Takayama.
The average gradient is 7%, and it's 3.5km from the base to the destination. The elevation is 350m.
It was a distance that could be climbed in about 10 minutes.
The buildings constructed with civil engineering techniques from the Meiji era
buried under natural vegetation,
made me feel as if I had wandered into the world of Laputa.
There were so many photogenic spots that I couldn't stop pressing the shutter button 📸
The Takayama Battery Remains are not only for viewing the exterior,
but you can also enter the buildings.

On the way back, I took a route through Kure instead of the same path, as it would be boring.
Although the distance ended up being longer than expected,
I was able to see huge transport ships and warships that are rarely seen,
which was great 👍
