The fastest gravel machine is back! Introducing the new Cannondale SuperX!

Cannondale has released the new SuperX!

The SuperX, once a prominent name in the cyclocross scene, is back with a new look. Up until now, the gravel and cyclocross models were under the name "SuperSix EVO SE/CX," but "SuperX" feels more fitting. So, while it's a return to its roots, its performance has been significantly updated!

Is this one bike all you need?

My initial impression after researching the SuperX is that it's a gravel racer, but with two types of tires or wheels (off-road and on-road), it might be an amazing single bike that can handle both off-road and on-road seriously. It's an exciting model that makes you think most people would be satisfied with just this one bike.

Now, let's delve into the charms of the new SuperX!

Incredibly Fast! Ultralight Frame and Latest Aero Design

First, let's focus on its frame performance.

The frame weighs less than 900g! (LAB71 model)

This is as light as a road bike. It's 100g lighter than its predecessor. Furthermore, its aero performance has been enhanced. With aerodynamics inherited from the Super Six EVO, it's not uncommon for gravel races these days to average over 35km/h, and the SuperX can deliver overwhelming performance at those speeds.

Additionally, with the fully internal cable routing, affectionately called "Momo-ste," and the SystemBar R-One (standard equipment on LAB71 complete bikes), the handlebar area is clean and tidy. Air resistance is also reduced, further enhancing its speed.

Vibration Absorption Technology for a Smooth and Comfortable Ride

The SuperX isn't just fast. It's also meticulously designed for comfort.

When riding on gravel, the bumpy feel of the road can be a concern. To mitigate this, the SuperX features a D-shaped seatpost and a flexible carbon structure. The seat tube, rear triangle, and top tube work together to absorb shock, reducing fatigue during long rides.

It overturns the conventional wisdom that "fast bikes are stiff," truly earning its title as a gravel glider!

Excellent Stability on Gravel! Featuring OutFront Geometry

Have you ever experienced unstable handling on steep descents or muddy roads, causing a shiver down your spine?

The SuperX adopts OutFront Geometry, which slackens the head angle to improve off-road capability and stability. Furthermore, by setting the fork offset longer than the typical 55mm, it enhances maneuverability.

Generally, a longer fork offset tends to make a bike less stable, but by slackening the head angle, this is compensated for, ensuring stability at high speeds. Yet, it maintains sharpness during cornering, achieving an exquisite balance.

Another welcome point is that the slack head angle and large fork offset make it less likely for your toes to hit the tire.

This means you can ride with confidence in any situation, whether it's a race, a long ride, or bikepacking!

Customization Freedom! Up to 51mm Tires Can Be Installed

A crucial factor when choosing a gravel bike is tire clearance, isn't it?

The SuperX can accommodate tires up to 51mm in the front and 48mm in the rear!

Moreover, with more than 4mm of clearance, there's no need to worry about mud clogging. You can easily "make it more comfortable with slightly wider tires."

Conversely, if you put on slick tires around 35c, it performs perfectly on the road. It even feels faster than some road bikes.

It's also perfectly suited for cyclocross. With 33C tires, it's eligible for UCI races!
